Motorola to create open source consortium for OpenSAF effort

Motorola has announced that it is to create an industry-wide consortium to drive forward the OpenSAF project it created in February to create an open source high-availability operating environment for network equipment providers.

The company created OpenSAF to accelerate the adoption of Service Availability Forum standards-based high-availability environments, and is now opening up the project to enable the involvement of other industry players.

Motorola said that the likes of Ericsson, HP, and Nokia Siemens Networks have expressed support for the initiative.
