The goal of the OpenSAF project is to accelerate the adoption of SA Forum standards-based high-availability environments, according to Schaumberg, Illinois-based Motorola, as well as accelerating the development of SA Forum specifications.
According to the company, both it and M Ericsson Telefon AB will contribute resources to the OpenSAF project, with Motorola contributing its NetPlane Core Services high-availability software.
The OpenSAF project has also been endorsed by Wind River, MontaVista, and the Scope Alliance open source carrier grade project, and is expected to deliver the first release of its open source code base in the second quarter.
