Unix file system company Veritas Software Corp, currently digesting OpenVision Technologies Inc technology, says it has more companies than you can count lined up to OEM its products. The latest is Hewlett-Packard Co which is using the Veritas Journaled File System in its shiny new 64-bit HP UX 11.0 operating system release. But we’ve heard Wall Street thinks Compaq Computer Corp, Storage Technology Corp and EMC Corp are all likely partners too and for Veritas’ software and the OpenVision storage management technologies which are already used by a slew of Unix vendors. Sun Microsystems Inc is currently bundling Veritas software (CI No 3,176), and reports suggest other original equipment manufacturers will sell this and other products including NetBackup, the OpenVision archival and backup software. Company spokesperson Melinda Mattei said Veritas is in the process of doing deals with more companies than you can count. Mattei said the company’s goal is to get its software everywhere. Since the completion of the OpenVision acquisition Veritas has integrated OpenVision’s NetBackup and FileSystem products into its business, and Mattei says work to integrate further products is well under way, and that revenues have already started to see the effects of the purchase.
