Packard Bell Electronics Inc seems to have scored a remarkable coup by getting Microsoft Corp to endorse one of its personal computers – but the endorsement could well put the noses of all Microsoft’s other OEM customers for operating systems out of joint. The mini-tower, called the Micrsoft Station by Packard Bell, is powered by a 133MHz Pentium, has 1.6Gb disk, 16Mb memory, quad-speed CD-ROM drive and audio – and never-before-bundled titles from Microsoft. It has some 30 Microsoft titles pre-loaded or on CD-ROM, a free annual subscription to The Microsoft Network and Microsoft’s Natural Keyboard and mouse. It is out now in the US at an estimated street price of $3,500.
