The launch of the Advanced Technology Center (ATC) at Microsoft Research Asia comes as the Beijing-based operation celebrates its fifth year.
The ATC will take on 80 engineers and developers in its first year alone.

Other prime areas for the ATC will be graphics and multimedia, wireless and networking, and information processing.
