The company was originally granted a cellular license in 1998, although it was reclaimed by the regulator, Cofetel after Midicel failed to fail the license fee. The company had set up a joint venture with South Korea’s Korea Telecom, but Korea Telecom pulled out.
The court has granted Midicel the license on condition that it pays the outstanding $120 million, and Midicel has said that it intends to invest $1 billion on its network.
