Meru Networks has introduced its first wireless Access Point designed to improve access, service and security in high density environments.
Meru AP832 marks the latest in a series of new wireless gear to support 802.11 ac or 5G and should help organisations, particularly in healthcare and education, accommodate the growing number of mobile devices and media-rich applications.
The California-based company, which has operations in Europe, the Middle East and Asia Pacific, said it expects the higher bandwidth and capacity to help high density environments access multi-media rich content applications.
Other features include two 80 MHz channels at 5 Ghz as well as a two-radio and three spatial stream design, which eliminates the need for users to upgrade their Ethernet switching infrastructure.
Chris Carey, a tech director at Bellarmine College Preparatory in San Jose, said: "We’re currently in the midst of launching a one-to-one iPad initiative for the 2013-2014 school year and are working closely with Meru to ensure that our WLAN solution exhibits the perfect blend of density, performance and control.
"Meru’s .11ac solutions will play a critical role in helping us advance our technology leadership position and support future education technology initiatives."
Meru, which provides mobile access and virtualised Wi-Fi solutions for customers including Fortune 500 businesses as well as the healthcare and hospitality sector, said the price list starts from $1,295 (£852).
