MediaShare Corp, San Diego has unveiled PBCatalog, an interactive multimedia product produced via an interface template designed to automate the process of creating custom-built catalogues in response to customer requests for an easy-to-use, low-cost electronic catalogue. A PBCatalog’s appearance can be tailored to specific requirements. The client’s information is formatted and stored in an object-oriented database, named MediaShare which provides the necessary software and services. A PBCatalog can be published to any storage medium compatible with 80386 or 80486 personal computers running Microsoft Corp Windows. Users can either browse through the catalogue or jump directly to a specific product with a text search. They can also add their own annotations in pop-up windows or copy information to the clipboard for use in other applications. By setting electronic bookmarks, a salesperson can flag items of particular interest to a certain customer. And because it can provide hypertext links to related in-formation and products, PBCatalog helps with cross-selling, up-selling and pro-duct selection. An on-screen order form can enter and tally the price of products. This enables a customer using the catalogue to evaluate different product selections and also enables a salesperson who is reviewing products with a customer to take the order electronically as information is reviewed.
