Computer Business Consultants Ltd, a Tandem Computers Inc systems house and founder member of the Tandem Alliance, has completed a management buyout for around UKP1.5m. The deal was orchestrated by the managing director, Alan Aylott, and financed by 3i Plc and Touche Remnant Technology, each contributing UKP500,000 in a combination of equity and droplock secured finance. The firm, which was advised by Capita Finance, a subsidiary of the Capita Group Plc, achieved a turnover of UKP3m last year, and Aylott says profits were on target. Computer Business was founded in 1985 by Chris Peat and Mike Fabian, neither of whom are staying on, and its four divisions are Networks and Switching, Simulation Tools and Test Services, Business and Professional Services, and Quality and Procedures. Aylott hopes to increase staff numbers by 20 to around 60 within the year, and says that his strategy is to expand the product portfolio and secure exclusive distribution deals for Tandem niche products.
