The new KeySafe 3 system works with the company’s Smart DiskOnKey platform, and will store confidential business data or personal information at speeds said to be 25% faster than typical USB memory sticks. This makes the devices suitable for all manner of data backups and even the store and playback of video and audio files.
The KeySafe security application is activated as soon as a memory stick is inserted into the USB port of a PC and launches using the autorun feature developed for the Smart DiskOnKey platform. Speeds of up to 23MB read and 15MB write are claimed of the new system.
The DiskOnKey systems is a pen-sized, secure data storage device that connects directly to any laptop or PC Universal Serial Bus (USB) port and has a storage capacity range of 16Mb to 2GB.
According to speculative postings on various financial websites in the US, it is suggested that Micron Technology, the developer of DRAM processors and CMOS flash chips, is about to launch a takeover bid for M-Systems.
