The Redmond, Washington-based Linux vendor launched its tablet PC version of the Desktop/LX Linux distribution in July 2003. Lycroris has a way to go to catch up with Microsoft Corp, which launched Windows XP Tablet PC Edition in November 2002, but said it is responding to demand in Taiwan for Linux as an alternative to Windows on tablet PCs.

The company has signed an exclusive distribution with Chinese software distributor Hanzen Corp to find OEM distribution partners for its Desktop/LX 1.4 and Desktop/LX Tablet Edition in Taiwan.

It has also signed two agreements through which Desktop/LX Tablet Edition will be pre-installed on tablet PCs from MoBitS Electronics Inc and Dialogue Technology Corp. Both companies are based in Taipei and are offering Desktop/LX as a potential alternative to Windows for tablet PCs.
