Lucent will use Marvell’s chips for next-generation metropolitan networking

Lucent Technologies has chosen Marvell's GalNet-3 converged voice/video/data switch processors for its ADM 16/1c WaveStar(TM) SDM Multiplexer and Transport System. This is a significant milestone for Marvell as it marks the company's successful entry into the high-end emerging MAN (Metropolitan Area Networks) market.

Marvell’s GalNet-3 converged voice/video/data switch processor is one of the highest performance switching semiconductor solutions commercially available today. The GalNet-3 GT-48510A is a member of the GalNet-3 family and provides eight ports of 10/100 Mb/s Layer 3/4/5 switching. The GalNet-3 switch processors support quality of service, bandwidth provisioning, service level agreement (SLA) policing and billing services, as well as full wire-speed IP/IPX routing and full wire-speed Ethernet switching, all of which are required for emerging carrier-class IP networks.
