Loudeye’s mobile music platform, a collaborative effort with mobile communications giant Nokia, enables operators to launch music experiences for their consumers under the operator’s brand. The aacPlus audio format and OMA 2.0 digital rights management platform are being utilized to extend this service by enabling music downloads on both handsets and PCs.
A unified experience is key across both mobile and PCs, said David Frerichs, vice president of Coding Technologies. By adding aacPlus and OMA 2.0 to a customized version of Windows Media Player, Nokia and Loudeye have ensured that customers can enjoy the same tracks at the same quality at work, at home, and on the go.
