IBM Corp’s Lotus Development Corp has reacted to the pressure that the internet is putting on its flagship Notes product by working to integrate the groupware package with the Web. The company is beta testing a new product that, used in conjunction with the forthcoming Web-enabled Domino release of Notes, enables users to design and manage Web sites. The new product, dubbed Net.Action, includes Web design templates; a HyperText Mark-up Language editor; the ability to integrate graphics, video and sound; workflow and approval features for creation and approval of site content across multiple departments; client access for creation and editing of Web sites from both Notes clients and browsers; and the ability to incorporate Domino’s full-text search engine. Net.Action is due to ship next quarter along with Domino; there is no word on prices for it.
