LogicaCMG Offshore Services, a division of LogicaCMG PLC, plans to increase the number of staff at its Indian operations in Bangalore from the current 350 to about 1,500 over the next 18 months, as more of its customer base shows interest in offshore development in India.
The offshore services proposition now forms an integral part of all LogicaCMG’s bids for projects in Europe and the UK, said Mike Weston, managing director of LogicaCMG Offshore Services. We expect further growth in our offshore business in the second half of 2003. There are excellent prospects in the offshore business going forward from all market sectors of LogicaCMG’s business worldwide.
A LogicaCMG spokesperson told ComputerWire that the company plans to increase staff to 500 by the end of 2003, and to 1,000 by the end of 2004.
The announcement comes just days after LogicaCMG announced its interim results for the first six months as a merged company, when it said it will have reduced its global headcount by 2,650 by the end of the year. For the six-month period ended June 30, the company reported a net loss of 69m pounds ($109m), down from a net loss of 315.7m pounds ($498.8m) in 2002, on revenue that fell 9.6% to 854.3m pounds ($1.35bn).
