Logica Plc has been contracted by the Swiss Teletext Corporation to supply a data broadcasting system for the Corporation’s new installation in Lugano, although control will be from its headquarters in Biel: the system includes two DEC MicroVAX II processors in a live-and-standby configuration, with a Logica alarm switch between their outputs to detect transmission failures, and has the ability to designate data as high or low priority, as well as being able to handle billings; initially the system will be able to take information from five incoming sources, and unformatted data, coming in at speeds of up to 9,600bps, can be packeted and converted to data broadcasting format, and the output uses up to six TV raster blanking lines an essential, unused part of the signal.
