Nippon Steel Computer Co has set up in the UK, in Bracknell, and is launching its first computer today, the Librex, onto the UK as well as the US market: the notebook is said to weigh just over 6lbs and is a 12MHz or 20MHz 80286 machine with a 30Mb or 60Mb hard disk, and comes with 4Mb random access memory as standard; the downside is claimed to be battery life, only one and a half hours compared to compete with offerings with up to three hours, and sources say that Nippon is planning to overcome this by including two batteries in the price, probably around the UKP2,000 mark.
