Liberate Technologies Inc, the company formerly known as Network Computer Inc (NCI) has set the price range for its initial public offering, coming just over a month after it raised $50m in a private round of funding. It aims to sell up to 6.25 million new shares at between $11 and $13 per share, raising up to $81.3m, before expenses. It appears that Lucent Technologies will wait until the IPO to take its place in the private placement, buying 1.9 million shares for $12.5m at an assumed price of $12 per share. The offering is underwritten by Credit Suisse First Boston, Hambrecht & Quist, and Charles Schwab & Co Inc.
