Improved features include the ability for the user to specify only the programs and data they want migrating from their old to their new PC; file type selectivity so only certain types of files can be selected to be moved; and faster migration speed.
The company said PCMover supports all versions of Windows from Windows 95 to Vista, and predicted that it will increase its market share in the US retail market beyond its current 70% over the course of the next 12 months as a result of the improvements.
The PCMover tool is aimed at consumers, small and medium-sized businesses, and larger enterprises. The company offers volume licensing deals and backs them up with a guarantee that it will save companies money in their PC migrations.
As well as PC migration tools, Laplink also does remote access technology where it competes with the likes of Citrix, 01 Communique Laboratory, Microsoft, Access Remote PC, Network Streaming, RealVNC, Anyplace Control, and 3am Labs.
