The way Kokusai Denshin Denwa Co sees it, its agreement with MCI Communications Corp and British Telecommunications Plc to start an international public dial-up corporate network service from June this year (CI No 1,359), is all for Japanese companies with overseas bases: it will use Kokusai digital voice multiplexers, facsimile message and packet switches and digital code coverters and enable companies that contract for a voice port or a facsimile port – at around $1,000 a month – to contact their US subsidiaries via a leased line to the KDD office over there and then via the MCI or Telecom nets in the US or UK to their local bases.
