Kalmykiya Corp, a venture majority-owned by the government of Kalmykiya has begun production of Lucky Goldstar Co computer monitors under licence from the South Korean company. A spokesman for Goldstar Moscow says under a contract signed in September 1993, 30,000 14 Super VGA monitors are to be produced this year at a plant based in Elista, the capital of the autonomous republic of Kalmykiya. The capacity of the operation is 50,000 units per annum. The monitors are to be sold on the domestic market. All parts are to be imported from Goldstar and there is no local input planned. The distribution will be handled by Kalmykiya Corp.
