Frankfurt and Konstanz-based Itos Computer GmbH – the former ComputerTechnik Mller – has turned in its first profits under its new name: Computerwoche reports that the personal computer supplier saw profit top $500,000 for the third quarter of 1990, and it expects a proportionately similar result onthe full year’s business of around $60m. The return to profits follows the ruthless axeing of over 400 jobs by new owners Harald Speyer and Walter Bartholom after they acquired the former family firm from Alcatel NV’s Standard Elektrik Lorenz a year ago. For the future, Itos is promising a new RISC-based workstation range and a Unix multiprocessor offering for October. The company for a time manufactured workstations on behalf of the ill-fated East London company Whitechapel Workstations.
