Bonuses in the UK tech profession are far above those of other industries as demand for skilled staff increases.
According to research from technology recruiter Greythorn, the average technology professional received a bonus of £6,681, or 12 percent of their average salary.
This is well ahead of the average £1500 bonus received by UK workers as a whole, a figure which is likely skewed upwards by high bonuses in certain sectors.
In total, the profession received combined bonuses of £3.25 billion.
The best-paid tech professionals worked in the business services sector, who received £72,867 per year. Those working in energy construction and utilities received an average salary of £67,063.
Tech professionals working in education were the worst paid, but still took home a comfortable average salary of £48,214.
The above average pay means that professionals are well-placed to take advantage of pay to move jobs. 40 percent of professionals left their job for a better salary and the research found that they would seek a salary increase of 15 percent to move.
Michael Moretti, senior manager at Greythorn said: "High levels of growth in the sector have put a real premium on skills in demand. In such an environment, firms will always offer top talent extremely attractive packages in order to keep themselves competitive in challenging markets.
"This hasn’t gone unnoticed by technology professionals, as many understand their worth."
