Paris-based Isocor Europe SA has announced Isofacsimile 400, an X400-based facsimile system for use in electronic mail and Electronic Data Interchange networks. Claimed to offer features not previously available in X400 or local are network-based facsimile systems, it incorporates features including automated conversion of text and graphics from X400 (including PostScript attachments), and the ability to accept facsimile messages from a standard facsimile machine and transmit them automatically in broadcast mode throughout an X400 network. The product is also claimed to provide logging and billing information, multiple line handling, group transmissions, and automated routing of incoming faxes to electronic mail users across a corporate network. The product is based around GammaNet, a facsimile server software package from GammaLink Inc of Sunnyvale, California, and Isocor says that while a single-line GammaFax board for the iAPX-86-based personal computer is provided, users have the option of adding more boards to a total of 16 facsimile lines on one Isofacsimile 400 system. Compatible with Isocor’s range of X400-based electronic messaging servers, it can be used with electronic mail systems including BeyondMail, cc:Mail, Da Vinci eMail, Futurus Team, HP OpenMail, any NetWare Global Messaging client, QuickMail, WordPerfect Office and Isocor’s own Isomail 400 and 800 series for X400. Access for Electronic Data Interchange users is also provided through the company’s Isotrade 400 Electronic Data Interchange access unit.
