Invensys Power Systems announces the addition of manufacturing capabilities to its operations with the acquisition of manufacturing assets from Power-Sonic Corporation located in Tijuana, Mexico for $28 million.
The new manufacturing facility, located in Tijuana, Mexico, will house production for Invensys Power Systems’ Energy Storage battery products. Globally, Invensys Energy Storage has 15 manufacturing sites, 5,000 employees and a worldwide sales and distribution network.
The energy storage industry continues to grow and this acquisition is a cost effective complement to our existing North American manufacturing facilities, said Pat Steffen, president, Invensys Energy Storage. Acquiring the manufacturing assets from Power-Sonic is a key part of our strategy to meet this higher demand and better serve our global customers. Along with the Powersafe SBS from Warrensburg Missouri and the V and HR products from Springfield Missouri, our new Mexican facility will provide large capacity storage cells for our OEM customers.
