The UHF EPC Gen2 system, running on Intellident’s Vision software platform, will enable Swindon-based Honda of the UK Manufacturing (HUM) to track each of its 250,000 plastic containers and 100,000 metal cages (stillages).

HUM’s supplier base, located primarily throughout the UK and mainland Europe, will receive a combination of dispatch control fixed-position VisionGate RFID portals and hand-held programmable terminals. Upon departure from the supplier, information relating to the dispatched assets is sent to HUM via the Vision software platform, providing a complete mandate of what items left and from what location.

Upon arrival at the HUM plant, and distribution center, each unique plastic asset and stillage is automatically read as it enters the facility using fixed-position VisionGate portals on each of the 121 dock-doors, with information then passed to the HUM receipt system. In addition, live data can be retrieved at any time using a secure centrally hosted system.

Phillip Sykes, director of supply chain operations for Intellident, said, The benefits in complete asset visibility and automated dispatch and receipt will allow HUM to operate one of the most efficient supply chains in the world, and we are confident that they will set the benchmark for future RFID operations across a range of industries.
