Intel in partnership with India-based mobile handset company Lava has launched its atom processor based smartphone Xolo X900.
The new smartphone is based on Intel’s smartphone reference design featuring the Intel Atom processor Z2460 with Intel Hyper Threading Technology and supporting HSPA+ 3G connectivity.
XOLO X900 will run on Android Gingerbread which will be later upgraded to Android’s Ice Cream Sandwich platform, the company said.
The 1.6 GHz Atom processor with Hyper Threading Technology offers speed and multi-tasking performance to consumers while the smartphone also comes with a 8-megapixel camera, 400 MHz graphics clock and 1080p HD video encoding and playback.
The new smartphone sports a 4.03-inch high-resolution LCD touch screen, a 400MHz Graphics Processor Unit (GPU) while its operating system can be upgraded to Android 4.0.
It offers a battery life up to 5 hours of 3G browsing, 45 hours of audio and 8 hours of talk time.
Intel is now planing expand launch similar Atom-based smartphones in partnership with Motorola, Lenovo, Orange and ZTE from later this year and the smart phones will run on Google Android operating system.
