Information Advantage Inc has now completed the acquisition of Atlanta, Georgia-based query and reporting tools company IQ Software Corp, which it agreed to acquire for $65m in June (CI No 3,442). Shareholders approved the merger last Wednesday. Larry Ford, president and CEO of the combined firm said the move would greatly expand the product line, market share and company size of Information Advantage, making it a stronger competitor in the cut-throat Business Intelligence market, where Microsoft Corp’s Plato mass market online analytical processing application is set to change all the current market dynamics. Information Advantage has already launched its first integrated product, the web extension tool it calls DecisionSuite Eureka, described as a business intelligence web portal, and designed to integrate diverse business intelligence tools. Information Advantage is based in Eden Prairie, Minnesota.
