Infineon Technologies AG has now acquired the Israeli digital signal processing design company IC Com, as we anticipated back in July (CI No 3,696) on undisclosed terms. Infineon – Siemens AG’s semiconductor unit – already has a 39% stake in the Azor, Isreal-based company, which developed Infineon’s Carmel DSP core product line. The IC Com design center will continue to develop current and future versions of Carmel, and also work on the integration of the core into telecommunication and data communication system-on-chip devices. Infineon says it has plans to be a major player in the embedded DSP core business.
