Inacomp Computer Centers Inc has teamed with trading house Mitsubishi Corp of Japan and its US Mitsubishi International Corp unit to open a business equipment retail chain under the name Computer Supercenters International Inc. The joint venture will seek to serve a comprehensive range of small business needs under one roof, offering computers, peripherals, software, computer accessories, books and magazines with sales and service of office equipment, including facsimile equipment and personal copiers. They will also feature small business services such as desk top publishing. The first Computer Supercenter will open in Los Angeles this September. After the pilot phase, up to 20 locations are planned to open in the US during the next four years. The new firm will be operated and managed by a team of Inacomp executives, including the company’s co-founder Joseph Inatome, who will resign as chairman and executive vice-president of Inacomp to become chief executive of the joint venture; he is succeeded by his son, Richard. No financial details of the agreement were revealed.
