Paris based software components company Ilog SA has launched Ilog TGO, a graphics library specifically for the telecoms sector. The product is available only as an add-on to the company’s multi- purpose Ilog Views library, used by developers to create 2D graphic user interfaces for such applications as geographical information systems, traffic management and process monitoring. It retails at $7,000 for a single user license. Ilog’s product manager for TGO, Francois Blanc, said the product is aimed at network developers and managers. He explained that it brings ‘industry-specific knowledge’ to Ilog Views’ functionality, as well as simplifying the API, in order to streamline the design process for developers and ease managers’ rapid comprehension of their network’s status. The product has no industry-specific competition, he added. The telecoms sector is Ilog’s leading vertical market, representing some 45% of the company’s sales revenue in 1997 and, predicts Blanc, around 50% this year. The company also markets its products to the manufacturing industry in general, the transport and defense sectors.
