ICL Plc and its July acquisition, Technology Plc, have succeeded together in winning a UKP6.2m contract from NatWest Life, a joint venture of National Westminister Bank Plc, which owns 92.5%, and Clerical Medical and General Life Assurance Society. The deal is for over 2,000 of Toshiba Corp’s 440 SXC colour notebook computers, 700 of Canon Inc’s BF10ex printers and Dacom Ltd modems to ensure that NatWest Life’s sales force is equipped with complete point-of-sales systems for when it starts trading in January. The briefcase systems will provide such services as factfind, needs analysis, quotation and electronic proposal completion using software written by Frame Computing. It is said to be Technology’s largest ever contract and the biggest order world-wide for Toshiba colour portables.
