Amdahl Corp, Fujitsu Ltd including Fujitsu Australia Ltd, and SDSS Inc (born as Secure Survivable Distributed Systems Inc) have signed a third party licence agreement with ICL Plc and joined up with the firm as core members of the Openframework Community backing the systems integration methodology that was developed by ICL and launched three years ago. The idea is to provide the partners with an environment for collaboration so they can share experience and knowledge, reducing costs and risk and enhancing their skill base. ICL sees customers benefiting from being seen more as individuals than as a mass market. Alan Bell of Amdahl said that Openframework is an important part of the company’s changing strategy, because it represents a shift towards the provision of consulting and services to customers. Fujitsu also plans to expand its consultancy services over the next three years by exploiting Openframework.
