Responding to criticism that of late it has always been fatally late into emerging markets, IBM Corp is expected next Thursday to announce controlled release of its first pen-driven personal computer, according to the Wall Street Journal, which says that contractual problems could delay the launch but only by a few days. The machine has been designed to run Foster City, California-based Go Corp’s PenPoint operating system and will be rugged rather than elegant, though weighing only 6 lbs. It is being aimed at field workers such as delivery van drivers, initially on limited availability.Go formally launches PenPoint on Thursday.
