Las Vegas, Nevada-based SRD sells so-called identity resolution software that IBM will now resell as part of its broad DB2 information management portfolio which includes analytics/ business intelligence and middleware.
Identity management is a pressing concern for large security-conscious organizations who struggle to identify who is who in their IT systems. The onus of regulatory compliance has also raised awareness in identity management.
SRD’s software helps companies visualize non-obvious relationships and associations between IT users and the data they access. The software taps into multiple databases to create an accurate view of a individual user’s identity. SRD says it does this in real-time.
The technology is thought to be just the ticket for a range of analytic applications that require a single view of the customer. IBM will initially integrate SRD’s technology into its vertical solutions for banking and insurance fraud, homeland security, and crime information management.
SRD’s software is based on standards like SQL and J2EE which will ease integration with non-DB2 database platforms like Oracle and Microsoft.
IBM says it will absorb SRD’s Nevada operations into its Information Management software organization. SRD is the software division’s 20th acquisition in the past four years.
