IBM Corp duly began shipping OS/2 2.0 to customers yesterday but the consensus seems to be that while it may run Windows applications better than Windows 3.0, it runs them rather less well than 3.1: Windows users can turn in their Windows and get it for $50; users of any version of MS-DOS get it for $100, and new users pay $140; existing OS/2 users can have it free until July 31, and a manufacturer’s rebate will be available to Windows users that buy OS/2 2.0 through IBM authorised remarketers; promotional prices do not include the shipping and handling charges.
