The IBM Autonomic Toolkit 2.0 allows developers to add autonomic capabilities such as rapid deployment and self-management of applications, with features tackling installation, administration, debugging and problem resolution.
IBM’s toolkit is an online set of resources, launched in February and available via the Autonomic Computing Zone of its developerWorks site, which includes embeddable components, tools, usage scenarios and documentation.
Version 2.0 now supports IBM’s AS/400 and Sun Microsystems Inc’s Solaris, adding to AIX, Linux and Windows in the first version. Eclipse plug-ins have been updated to the latest version of the open source framework.
The influence of Eclipse can be felt in a number of toolkit features. The Automatic Management Engine (AME), which features Eclipse plug-in the Resource Model Builder allowing application developers to customize the AME. The web-based Integrated Solutions Console, meanwhile, features an Eclipse-based plug-in for developing administration components and sample components.
