Although it says it plans an OS/2 version, IBM Corp is endorsing Microsoft Corp’s Windows 3.0 environment with the launch of Hollywood, a presentation graphics package designed to enable business professionals to create high-quality hard copy, transparencies, slides and on-screen presentations. IBM also bought rights to develop and market an OS/2 Presentation Manager version of the package from its developer, Publishing Solutions Inc, Marlborough, Massachusetts. Hollywood provides an integrated outliner, professionally designed templates and colour schemes, fully-scalable fonts, an advanced screen show capability, as well as charting, drawing and painting tools. Text can be entered direct or imported from other word processors. The data manager provides a spreadsheet-like interface where data is entered or imported for chart and table generation. It needs at least an 80286 and MS-DOS 3.3 up, mouse, 1.6Mb memory and a hard disk. It costs $500 and arrives at the end of May.
