IBM has come out with Version 2.0 of its Windows Connection program in the US: the program is designed to integrate host sessions and personal computer applications running in the Microsoft Windows 3 environment, and new features in Windows Connection include support for the AS/400 as an alternative to 370s as the host, and data transfer between the between host and micro applications has been simplified; the program is also intended to ease migration from mainframe interactive terminals – 3270s or 5250s to micros running OS/2 Extended Edition with Presentation Manager; with the new release, local applications can be viewed concurrently with host sessions under MVS, VM and OS/400, and it adds the ability to transfer multiple files simultaneously; there is a host session copy and paste feature for transferring information in one application into a document being created in another; and full Dynamic Data Exchange support, enabling users to exchange data directly between host and Windows-based micro applications; it needs a 1Mb machine, Windows 3 and IBM PC 3270 Emulation Program Entry Level, IBM Personal Communications/3270, or AS/400 PC Support; it is $214 from the end of the month.
