Horizons Technology Inc of San Diego, California has released TrueMotion S playback software for superior quality CD-ROM publishing applications. Horizons has taken this software-only video compression algorithm and extended its capabilities to the desktop environment for cross-system support including Macintosh, RISC, PowerPC and Pentium processors. The new TrueMotion S playback software supports applications running on each of these systems and is available immediately. The Duck Corp of New York developed the TrueMotion algorithm and has licensed it for more than 100 Compact Disk titles from game players such as 3DO Co and Sega Enterprises Ltd. Horizons is the exclusive licensee for the TrueMotion algorithm in the personal computer application market and The Duck Corp has retained exclusive rights in the game market. Recommended playback options for Truemotion S are a 33MHz 80486 CPU or greater, 4Mb RAM and VESA local bus or Peripheral Component Interconnect bus display adaptor with 16-bit or better colour or 68LC040-based Macintosh or better with 4Mb RAM and 16-bit colour display.
