Enfin, c’est fait: Honeywell Inc has settled its last outstanding autofocus camera patent infringement dispute – the one with Fuji Photo Film Co Ltd of Japan and its US Fuji Photo Film USA Inc subsidiary, heading off a civil trial scheduled for October: under the settlement, Fuji will pay Honeywell an undisclosed amount, which will be included in Honeywell’s third-quarter figures; Honeywell agreed to drop its lawsuit, filed in US District Court in New Jersey, alleging that Fuji used Honeywell’s automatic focus camera technology without permission; Fuji is the 15th and final company targeted by Honeywell in the patent dispute – the settlements from the other 14 suits have given Honeywell $314.2m.
