Harris Corp’s Digital Telephone Systems Division is moving into voice+data applications on its Harris 20-20 switch, with Voiceframe. The company says Voiceframe converts call information into protocols that the host switch is then able to route. The product combines voice and data, and interfaces to IBM, DEC and Unix processors. The company is now seeking software companies to develop applications for the system that access enhanced facilities such as call routing via database enquiries, reports Computer Systems News. Applications for VAXes are a particular target, with Digital Voice Systems keen to integrate its system with Digital’s Computer Integrated Telephony programme (CI No 1,106). The company is also looking for applications devloped for IBM’s AS/400 Telephony Application Services, and Unisys Corp’s and Siemens AG’s Unix interfaces. UK distributor Digital Telephone systems Ltd has no plans to launch the facility this side of the Atlantic.
