Mountain View, California-based Google declined to provide many specifics about the deal. Google is using Req technology to translate HTML web pages into a format that can be viewed on mobile devices, said a Google spokesperson.

Reqwireless products are no longer for sale, and Google would not say whether or not it would continue to support them.

Reqwireless products include WebViewer, EmailViewer, HotViewer, and GotMailViewer, which can be used on various mobile devices such as the BlackBerry and Treo 600.

All Reqwireless employees have joined Google, said the spokesperson, who declined to say just how many workers Reqwireless had.

Last year, Google released tailored versions of its search engine for mobile devices. In the past, company officials have told ComputerWire that mobility is a focus area for Google going forward.
