Google has rolled out a new update to the way its search page displays results, removing the underlined hyperlinks which it has been carrying since 90s.
The company has removed underlines for the selectable lines of the search results and increased their font.
Ads, which previously used to appear on the top and the right-hand panel of the results page, are currently displayed under the respective results in yellow with labels named as Ad or Ads.
The changes are similar to those launched across mobile and tablet devices in late 2013.
Google Search lead designer Jon Wiley wrote on his social media account that the company has increased the size of result titles, removed the underlines, and evened out all the line heights.
"This improves readability and creates an overall cleaner look," Wiley added.
"We’ve also brought over our new ad labels from mobile, making the multi-device experience more consistent.
"Improving consistency in design across platforms makes it easier for people to use Google Search across devices and it makes it easier for us to develop and ship improvements across the board."
