Google will introduce a new feature, ‘People Widget’, in its Gmail over the next two weeks, which will provide users the ability to access relevant information about friends and family members.
The new feature will extract contextual information about people in a conversation thread such as chats, docs, upcoming events, etc and display it in a small window.
Google said in a blog, "The people widget surfaces content from friends, family and colleagues that is already available to you but may be hard to find and makes it easier to connect with them."
Google software engineer Zohair Hyder wrote, "Next to every e-mail message you can now see contextual information about the people in that conversation."
Hyder added, "You also have quick access to a variety of ways to communicate with individuals, start a group chat, or schedule a meeting with groups of people."
