Computer and electrical engineering group Getronics NV expects net profits to rise by at least 13.5% in the second half of 1992, Reuter reports from Amsterdam. It must be possible to have profit growth of more than 13.5% in the second half, chairman Ton Risseeuw told reporters. For the first half, net profits rose 13.5% (see opposite). Getronics sees the current slump in the Dutch information technology market coming to an end in the second half of this year and the profit rise will be stronger then, Risseeuw said. The 37% increase in turnover was mostly down to full consolidation of Koning & Hartmann, acquired in October 1991. The company reiterated its forecast of 1992 full year sales to be at least one billion guilders, up from 1991’s 827.5m and Getronics expects its share of the total Dutch information technology market, which it estimates at just under $10,000m, to rise to 6% from 5% this year. Profit growth this year stemmed mainly from system integration activities, which accounted for 60% of total sales. Turnover in the Dutch software market fell more than 10% in the first six months but Getronics says its market position in that sector remained stable. Software and consultancy accounts for 17% of sales and on-going services related to its products and systems for 23%. But with margins and growth prospects in the services sector far higher, it aims to expand in this area, mostly through takeovers in Belgium and Spain. It has about $60m in cash available.
