Fujitsu Siemens BV, the merger of the European IT operations of Japan’s Fujitsu Ltd and Germany’s Siemens AG, has signed an OEM agreement with Advanced Digital Information Corp (ADIC) for its LTO and DLT tape libraries.

In addition, the two companies have agreed a joint development and distribution plan for Fujitsu Siemens’ CentricStor virtual tape archiving system. A spokesperson for ADIC explained that the Redmond, Washington-based company automates DLT drives from Quantum and Tandberg, though the latter are sold directly back to the Tandberg for OEMing.

As for the LTO libraries, the drives will probably be supplied by IBM (with whom ADIC has an agreement to manufacture the automation products) and Seagate, since the other member of the LTO consortium, Hewlett-Packard Co, is a competitor to ADIC in libraries.
