Fujitsu Ltd has come out with a high-end Japanese language word processor which is targeted at the corporate market and desk-top publishing, which is a developing market in Japan: the Oasys 100HF is based on a 32-bit chip – a proprietary one no doubt since its name is not given; a 45Mb hard disk; 15 bit-mapped screen; 400 dot per inch F6144S1 laser printer or the cheaper F6134L1; outline fonts as standard; and thumb-shift keyboard, which is recognised by the Japanese Language Input Consortium as the most efficient input method; other features include good graphics (the system runs Multiplan and can produce 13 different types of graphs; and local network interface; it costs around $12,450 with the 400dpi laser printer and $10,000 with the low-end printer; Fuji Xerox Corp is a key target – it is among the market leaders with its J-Star Japanese language word processor.
