Fujitsu Semiconductor has signed a licensing deal with ARM for its big.LITTLE and Mali-T624 technologies to use them in range of consumer and industrial devices.
The new devices will combine ARM big.LITTLE technology and ARM Mali-T624 graphics processing with the dual-core Cortex-A15 processor and dual-core Cortex-A7 processor for visualisation systems that allow users to leverage data and programmes through on-screen graphics.
Fujitsu Semiconductor products business unit VP Mitsugu Naito said that the pairing of ARM Cortex CPUs in a big.LITTLE configuration with the Mali-T624 GPU offers better performance to end consumers and industrial applications.
"Being able to bring a flexible, high-performance solution to address the dynamic market associated with visual computing is vital for Fujitsu Semiconductor," Naito said.
ARM Media processing division VP Pete Hutton said: "The capabilities of next-generation ARM Cortex and Mali GPUs in concert will make innovative features possible for consumers and businesses with market-leading energy efficiency at the system level."
According to the company, the ARM big.LITTLE technology allows the companies to produce an ARM quad-core system that will offer about 70% energy savings with peak performance.
Both the companies expect the integration of technologies to meet growing consumers expectations of visual interfaces and user experiences.
