Fujitsu Semiconductor Asia has introduced a new MB86H06 chip, an interactive Set Top Box (STB) Mpeg2/H.264 decoder offering that supports China’s AVS format.
The MB86H06 chip is based on a multiple-core CPU structure with the maximum frequency reaching 324MHz.
The chip supports visual decoding formats including: MPEG-2, H.264 and AVS, while its audio decoding unit supports advanced audio formats including AAC/HE-AAC.
In addition, the new MB86H06 has embedded a secured area suitable for applications requiring high security functionality, said the company.
As an integrated SOC, MB86H06 supports bidirectional interactions: on-chip Ethernet, USB functions to support multiple channels of serial Flash and single DDR2 memory.
Further, the chip is used in the standard definition digital STB/integrated digital television (iDTV), Cable Television (bidirectional interactive), Terrestrial Television Broadcasting and Satellite H.264 in Asia, the company said.
